This rice cooker would work best for someone who has never used a rice cooker before and doesn't realize how easy rice making can be, and it takes the guess work out of it. Certainly it beats cooking in a pot on the stove where the biggest mistake you can make is to remove the lid to check on it - this one will let you know when the rice is done and it's hard to make a mistake. Careful though - it might cause you to get the 'rice bug' in which case you'll be trolling through all the fancy rice cookers, like I did, and end up with a product that can do far more than just cook rice, not just rice, but the very best cooked rice. What's frustrating is that the unit works like a charm but for the bowl that's no longer safe to use (the nonstick layer and the structure did not hold up well even on my average residential dishwasher). This is great for my husband and I, leaving left overs. The machine also only has two options: cook or warm.
